A New Master.

Mark Ryden is a true master when it comes to creepy kids. There are few who can compare.

In his works, clearly influenced by the old masters, he combines excellent drawing skills and techniques with pop culture themes and imagery, often religious or political. His style, completely unique and inimitable knows no boundaries and can easily move between high and low forms of art, creating this blend. He first became popular in the 1990s along with the Pop Surrealism movement.

Filled with clichés, archetypes, childhood, innocence, occult, mysterious and cryptic and enigmatic images, Mark Ryden can pull off what only few can. Appart from the visual pleasure, his paintings can easily go under the surface because of its strong and effective symbolism.

He currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
